Relay

Does any one know what this is or wot it does. It was some how wired to the fuel pump on my brothers 110 (v8 carb) which is in bits at the mo.
I know its some kind of relay and no i havent done a search I thought I'd ask you lot.

Um, it's a relay. It lets you switch a large current with a small one - less wear on the ignition switch.

It's an old multi-pole relay. It can switch several circuits at once.

That package came in different formats.
It can be, as you say, a multi function single relay or it could be a twin with each operating several circuits. Beautifully made old items, sort of the steampunk aspect of electronics.

its a triple pole change over relay.

its this "fancy" design, which is quite old, cos it fits into the old thermal valve bases.

might be an AC coil (110V or 240V - check)

they sell them and their bases at maplin: Round-base 10A Relays : Power Relays : Maplin Electronics

I used one for a self cut-off band saw project a while back.

F knows how it was wired , all the wires were pulled out and its not going back.
it went into a pastic houseing, you would need a pin layout diagram to use it.
It would be a big shut down if it ****ed up being multi functional

Replace it with a standard automotive one - search this site for various relay wiring diagrams.
