Registering a series 1 ?

Hi guys how would I register for a v5 a series 1 88" the owner has offered me it for £500 but it doesn't have reg number and may not have chasis number, I'm thinking q plate with age proved on axle numbers ?

How can he prove it is his to sell then ?

if he has the chassis the number may still be visible, mine is on the passenger side front spring hanger, i.e. right side as you look from the front.

without the chassis number I would be worried that another vehicle already has the identity, although with no number that would be difficult to determine.

how much of the car is left?

Car is complete, rear chasis is rotten, missing clocks but he wants £500 I know where they came from he isn't dodgy atall

should be a straightforward job then, as I say, chassis number on my s1 is on the front spring hanger so you may be able to see it and get the original number, I assume the little plate on the bulkhead - in front of the gear and 4wd knobs - with the chassis number on it isn't there?. if the dvla don't have it registered it might be more tortuous, letter from gaydon confirming its identity, or if the original reg is no longer available you should be able to get an age related one, wouldn't have thought you would have to have a q plate.

it should have an original log book

I've done few old prewar bikes from boxes of bits. A dating certificate from a recognised club is all DVLA needed to issue an age related plate. Tried to do one this week 60 mile round trip to find the local DVLA offices have been closed by some penny pinching tight arse.
