refurb of 89 defender

hi there i bought a defender 90 1989 in green about 2 years ago .. i have stripped down the doors,bonnet nd rear quarter pannels nd filled them to the best i can (could b better if pro done) and it has a rather remarking play in the steering wheel.. it also has an oil leek coming out the rocker cover nd the clutch is remarkably hard, window wipers dont work, heater dont work.. so i am just wondering if it is worth spending a load of money on if it aint worth spending..

if any one can advise me on wat to do to fix these problems and how much it would cost to put right that would b great as i love this landy nd want to get it on the road again

You could make some soup with the leek

, and the remarkably hard clutch could go in for some cagefighting

. As for the heater, they don't work anyway. Seriously though, just have a go at fixing individual things, if it don't work, post problems as you find them. Or do a search on here. As for cost, well thats a whole different ballgame!!!

Some have a whole garden of leeks from the engine

Try a new rocker cover gasket.Its usually worth repairing LR unless the chassis and bulkhead are rotten.Hard to tell abot clutch without driving,if you posted location someone might be able to help

cheers is rocker cover gasget easy to repalce by myself.. and does anyone know sumwhere to get doors resprayed in or neer elgin or inverness the is resnablely priced nd good job? cheers

It is a simple job.You need a13mm spanner.Clean the joint surfaces well but dont drop any bits of crud down in the engine.Put on gasket and cover and torque down.Personally i would just paint the doors with a brush.You should be able to get the paint in Elgin.
