Refilling Swivel Hubs with EP90

I'm told the front axle of my trialer came from a 110 defender (much of the rest came from a Range Rover), I've drained the oil from the swivel hubs and have tried to refill using my oil syringe but it's plastic pipe almost fills the level hole (square headed plug in the attached picture) which causes a build up of pressure ejecting the new oil as fast as I can get it in. Can anyone please offer suggestions of how I can refil the hubs?
BTW I know the modern solution is to use grease but as the trialer spends all of it's time in low range I feel the more fluid oil would provide more protection.

I've used a normal syringe I got off a pal who works in a hospital.
You're not trying to get it in against the ball are you? Steering needs to be on full lock for one side and opposite lock for the other. Can't remember which way but if you poke a screwdriver in there you'll see if the ball is in the way.
 
If you turn the steering so the filler hole is clear of the inner chrome ball it goes in a bit easier. That is, to the driver's side when filling the driver's side swivel and the passenger's side when filling the passenger side swivel.

Wheels on lock so there is a clear passage into the swivel?
 
im just about to do mine, can you put to much in as there is obviously old grease in there at the mo so I was just going to put half a bag in and see how it goes

Do yours have the level plug in them?

If they do then fill to that point, if not then a best guestimate is all you can do.

Buy yourself a tube of decorators caulk (useful for the house stuff later) use the nozzle on the end of your syringe hose to inject into the hubs, clean it out after, and fannys your auntie.
