I have made a bed base of 18mm ply (which I now realise is probably a bit over the top in terms of thickness) in the back of my 110 county and as each panel weighs a ton I am looking to drill a number of 57mm dia holes in each board (bed is made up of 4 sections as follows: 3 no. 400mm x 900mm panels, 1 no. 1200mm x 200mm panel and 1 no. 1080mm x 760mm panel) and am wondering how much of the ply I can drill out without loosing too much structural integrity.

I have seen this method employed in various camper conversion articles in Land Rover mags so am fairly confident it is 'tried and tested' but need some guidance as to how far I can go....

I gues the holes will also do no harm in terms of getting air to the underside of the mattress which will be an added bonus.

Many thanks in advance
