I have got my hands on an older Td5 Disco. I'm going to use it soley off road. With the price of diesel at the minute I think it's a waste to use White diesel in it. My question is will the red diesel run in the Td5 and will it cause any damage to any of the engine parts?

Red and white diesel are physically the same in terms of combustion etc. Remember a lot of modern tractors/diggers have highly sophisticated injection systems too. You might have a problem convincing HMRC that a privately reg'd vehicle *isn't* being used on road.

My experience with diesel landy's is the offroad fuel consumption is quite low, you can tool around all day on a few gallons, so I'm not sure you'd be saving yourself mega bucks anyway. Also, you'd be suprised how often you actually need to be taxed and tested, for "off-road" eg some pay and play places are insisting on road legal vehicles now, and of course green lanes are the same.

How easy is it for you to buy red diesel? I get hold of it because I work on an Estate and they get it by the tanker-load. Not been aware of it being for sale anywhere by the gallon, as it were. :)

ye a murco by me sells it too think theyve got it listed as something else though cant remeber what though :p

The odd time I've used it I found that it gave a small increase in power. It won't harm your engine and it's the same as white diesel only with a few less addatives and coloured red.
