Hi All, had my Vogue TDV8 for a year and a half, and its been quite a thrill, however one day after work I started off from work and put my foot down to pull out into the traffic, I felt a slight judder, nothing major and all of a sudden my car started cutting out, and would not start again, anyway the car ended up in the garage and been told they think its my turbo that has gone. I was also told that 2ltr of oil has disappeared from the engine, and gone somewhere, cannot remember where they said it has gone, but I have been quoted a lot of money to get it sorted, around 6 to 8k, and that's with a recon engine, although I have found two companies on EBay, NZ Engines and Global Engines, one will cost £3,095 the other 3,495, both fully fitted with 6 month warranty, however if I need turbos, they will cost me £850 each, and things like the alternator, start motor etc, will be taken from mine.
Just wondered if anyone knows anywhere else to go?

posted this in another area, and had some good advice (thanks Stuart), now been told that global engines are a con.

Seriously don't know which way to turn, don't fancy spending nearly 10K to repair a 58 plate with 120K miles.

Thanks for listening

Mark

I think there was a thread a while back were the turbo went due to low oil pressure I believe it took both the new turbos out and the engine on restart,
the missing oil may well be in the exhaust system someone had that on here.

I vaguely recall same thread, very much a "oh your turbo's are gone", not a problem, and I won't even investigate why they died, I'll jump straight in to fitting new shiny ones and take your money.....
Heck, I'll be really smart and save you more money by re-using the oil lines and drains.

was that the one where it was a split intercooler hose

is it easy to drop the sump to check the crankshaft

Not sure tbh, I was more having a fit of pique against imaginary lacklustre garages who do this kind of sh!t as a matter of course....

New turbos means new oil lines, or at least check the blinkin things are operational!!

ur not wrong there and maybe there using advanced crystal balls ;)

even a local garage tried to quote me for a new turbo, i read the codes and a got some software added that moved the turbo actuator arm when i turned the engine on and off , also annoys the hell out of me when so called experts say the body has to come off to replace belts

is amazing with some garages in how they try it on , maybe seeing if they can get away with it

Well just to keep you updated, I have decided to do the work myself as the garage said the best option would be a new bottom end, an was told it would be 4k, so doing it has a project.
In the meantime, I have had to buy another car until this one is sorted, and no, not a range rover lol..

There's a guy in Aylesbury called Pepe who always seems to have one of these in pieces being rebuilt on his ramps!

Take your time and lots of pictues. Look forward to the How To Rebuild thread.

Need to know what caused the turbos to fail.
