Por 15 paint, 70 quid for 1/2 a litre, not off me !
I am after minimal prep, ie scotchbrite/clean then slap it on, looks do not matter.
Any ideas?

Tank removed was original 1959 one, pretty decent life I reckon, 1/2 inch thick slab of sheet rust between rear of tank and rear outrigger, hammer rust off and still cannot dent outrigger or chassis, impressed.

I know it's no use to you but I use Oxirite here as a base then Dyrup gloss black on top both are for gates and railings and bought in d.i.y store drys quick to touch but takes a while to set really hard...wanted to re-paint rear crossmember couldn't get it off with twisty wirebrush in a grinder...

Synthetic tractor black enamel, litre available for about £20/£25. Tough but needs a couple of weeks to fully harden.

Yes the stuff I use takes a couple of weeks to harden...

I've used Tractol enamel for years - brushes well, sprays well, and stands cow sh*t - so, it has to be something like right - bonda primer as the primer if you're asking ;);)

Scuff up with 400 grit, etch prime with Bilt Hamber Etchweld, overcoat with decent satin black enamel and after a week or two spray Dynax UC clear chassis wax over the whole tank, especially the bits you can't get to when installed. Do the same to the chassis rails you can access with the tank removed.

A good alternative is Buzzword products. I've had excellent results from them.

I've not had great results with POR-15 and I found it is expensive and fussy to apply, but others swear by it. Hammerite is not as good as it was back in the day, and in any case there is better stuff available these days.

A litre of synthetic enamel with a cup full of lead oxide mixed in.

It’s not as if children are going to lick it. Well, not often :D
