had an oil and filter change done about 2 months ago in my TD6 L322, checked oil level yesterday and the oil is black already, is this normal? I always thought black oil = due a change?
anyone?
is it carbon in the oil that makes it black?
takes hours for it to go black again ....
I always thought (correct me if im wrong) it wend black because of the heat involved, they run hotter than a petrol, its self combustive (no spark plug) higher pressures etc.

a sorted diesel runs cooler..
i have egt gauges fitted..i can see combustion temps..
and..if your petrol engine oil is black then you ain't got a healthy engine or you ain't changing the oil enough...mine (petrol one) comes out clear with a slight tint to the darker side luke..
ooo can you get a guage for that? I have been wanting to swap my gay clock for summit good in the 72
they pricey, hard to fit?
