Thanks Dan

A GPS takes a fix from several satellites in order for it to figure out what it's position and altitude is. it repeats this process at a fixed interval. (lets say every 5 seconds) by working out how far it has travelled in those 5 seconds. (Say it's 147yards,) then the GPS then knows that it's travelling at 60mph. So it's never wrong. Whereas a speedo rarely shows the correct speed.

I've just got a wee laminated sticker on me dash giving the actual speeds I'm travelling when me speedo reads 30, 40, 50 etc. With RR diffs & 235/85s the conversion factor on me III is about 1 : 1.46. It's a piece of **** to read & you soon remember what's what.
