Hi, I have a series 3 running 7.50 x 16 tyres with early Range Rover diffs, I’ve done a quick search and Google gives me a different result each time for Range Rover ones but would anyone be able to advise on the correct colour/number of teeth for the speedo drive gear for this set up?

I may be wrong but I don't think the series speedo drive uses colours, and I am not sure if there is different gearing or not. it is a very different setup to the defender style with the coloured cogs. A standard series speedo drive pinion is part number FRC1536 and looks like the below:

But i am sure someone with more in depth series gearbox knowledge will be along to correct me shortly.
 
I've had a look at my parts book and the only difference in drives is for the 109 V8 - and totally different setup.

'Standard' Except for 1 Ton and 109 V8.

thank you all for replying, looks like there’s no variations on the frc1536 type drive - probably be easier to change the diffs back!
 
I’m sure you have to change it at the speedo end. There are a few recalibration services out there. Not sure if you have to know what your ratio requirement is but they will know.
 
If it's happy on taller diffs I'd rather them than an accurate speedo.
You very quickly get used to the inaccuracy on the speedo and drive accordingly. my 110 is about 8% over read but my series is about a 3% underread. but I am aware of this and you just drive to the "correct" speed limit on your speedo.
 
To the best of my knowledge, Land Rover speedo drive gears in Series 2/3 vehicles are the same. The only difference in speedos was between SWB and LWB models as they came with different sized tyres. A LWB speedo was around 11% undergeared due to being fitted with the larger 7.50's.
If you look closely around the edge of the black part of you speedo face behind the glass you may see some numbers. I do remember that a Mk2 Jag with 3.54 rear end had a speedo cable rate of circa 1,200 revolutions per mile.
Range Rover diffs will change your gearing by 32%.
You could either get your speedo recalibrated, or fit a wee gearbox to the cable which I've seen in the USA.
