you seem to be changing gear ok,is the gear stick fully in line with 3rd and 4th,if you push stick to one side and let it return on its own to the middle is it directly in line with 3rd and 4th

Thanks james. Yes. 3rd and 4th are aligned. I think No prob with bias springs.
My only concern is that I can not high rev it more + shift more Quick from 1st to 2d and 2d to 3rd. I feel that the engine can rev much higher on these gears if i want, but the gearbox will not follow. But maybe that’s the way to drive a defender.

That is pretty much it, a slight delay at the neutral position. Sometimes with a stiff change a blip on the throttle at that neutral position will help, more so when going down the box.
When one learned on a series 2a [ no syncro on 1st and 2nd ] it was pretty well a must or do a double declutch.

When going DOWN the gears, I have no problem. It goes down very nicely and smoothly like a little FIAT 500 :)
It's only going up with high revs and quickly on 2d and 3rd that I feel in my hand the lever slightly blocking/grind/crunch.
By the way, why does a small throttle blip helps while on neutral ? The gearbox is separated from the engine at that moment. For me I leave a slight delay on neutral to calm down the engine if I'm reving it high, and want it to come back to idle so the shift is smoother. Merci !

Blip brings engine speed and gear speed closer together and there is a moment when they match.
I think that your box just needs more running time, as noted in my first post mine took a good few km.
Try not to grind it in the mean time, there is plenty of low down torque with a defender engine so reaching high revs before changing is not needed.
Hwyl Fawr [ Welsh = All be well in a big way ]:)
