Hiya,
I'm almost done with the engine rebuild, and I'm kind of stuck. I have a few things I don't know where they go. Unfortunately I didn't see this engine together in one piece before I rebuilt it. So perhaps you all could help point me in the right direction here...

What is this little T for, and which is the third pipe that is supposed to connect to it?

This looks like a ground strap perhaps? To connect the engine to the chassis? But where does it bolt on and why is there no bolt hole in the other end of it?

Here is the other end of it.

What's this mess? Can't figure out where it goes. I'm not sure where that black and orange connector in the top left of the pictures is supposed to go. This wire comes off the same harness as the injectors.

Here's a random pipe, I'm not sure where it goes.

A bent bit of metal.

And another pipe, metal this time.

Cheers,
Roger

ok, i am not up on disco's but picture 1 is the t piece for the cruise control, goes up to the bellows on the throttle, and those pipes are going to need cutting to get good vacuum.
the rubber pipe is a rear heater hose, from manifold to bulkhead , the maetal pipe i think is one of the connectors at top of manifold for the heater pipe, and the bent bit of metal is a wheel chock for when you got the motor on jack or handbrake off to work on car. sorry cant help with othr bits but it aint a classic so cant help you

The mess of wires as you call is with the white and black cables i think go to the coil, and the black square thisn are resistors. dont quote me what rire goes to wich sire of the coil but if you have a wire diagram it will tel you.

The bent bit of metal is a wheel chock and goes in the engine bay on the passanger side wright at the front behind the head light. you will see a small long bolt with a wing nut. this is where the jack and this chock fit.

I think that the T peice goes to the plenum chamber on the left as you look at it ( though some models dont have this on the chamber) and the pipe is either for the cruise con or it operates the re-circulate valve for the heater

As for the earth strap. i would put it were ever you can on the engine and as close to the distribitor as you can and the other end to the chassie both with good clean connections

Brilliant help, thanks guys. I got the electrical wires all hooked up. Couldn't get them backwards on the coil because they were two different connectors

Still not sure about the two pipes though.

Edit: I figured out what you were saying about the metal pipe. Can see where that one goes now. Not sure about the rubber one.

Thanks,
Roger

Just a few more...

Here are 3 hoses, and I don't know where they go.

I bet one goes here, where I'm pointing. I bet another one is a fuel line to connect to that tube thing that feeds the injectors. Don't know what the third one is. And I don't know which is which.

Edit: This wire goes to the starter solenoid, I figured it out when the engine wouldn't crank.

Thanks,
Roger

hi you may be able to help me.
have you a heat shield above the engine mounting on the passengers side as i have this left over and cant work out how it fits.

many thanks

Heat shield? Are you talking about the one that goes over the starter motor? I haven't put mine on yet. Mine is kind of rusty, need a new one.

Not sure which is the passenger side since I don't know which country you're in. Guessing England in which case the starter motor would be on the drivers side of the car, so it may not be what you're talking about.

Thanks,
Roger

hi thanks for that.
i have just finished fitting all the ace pump and ps pump alternator etc.
just got the rad and oiler coolers then its time to crank over getting the oil moving before fireing.
fitted new main bearings big end bearings new front and back oil seals ,new stem seals and reringed so here goes this weekend i hope, let me know how you get on.

thanks

Haha, good luck. I'm hoping to have my parts in to start 'er up this weekend too. Supposed to have a Saturday delivery of my upper rad hose and new coolant reservoir.

Maybe I'll post a video of the first start.

Thanks,
Roger
