Rear WIper jammed - P38

The stupid rear wiper jammed, crawling home this evening.

Anyone know if this is this a common fault and what's likely to be the fix?

Jammed or just stopped mid wipe? Could be a fuse, or could be frozen if water has gotten into the wiper shaft, looking at your weather.

it could be frozen. if you find wiper is foooooked pm me i have one you can have.

Hmm. It doesn't look frozen - it's just stopped mid wipe. It's actually warming up here now so all this luverly snow is going to melt.

I'll see what it does in the morning. Does it share a fuse with anything else?

Frozen water in the drive shaft where the wiper attaches, try to get some oil in there and maybe a wipe of grease wher the shaft comes out of the housing.

I was thinking that this morning, but it doesn't look very easy to access. I'll try and squirt some WD40 in there a bit later.

The back window does seem to suck all the road spray up so it's quite useful to have a working one! I'll have to try and unclog the squirter jet too as that just dribbles down the window.

Incidentally, do you know what size wiper it takes? Halfrauds don't mention the rear blade for a P38. I assume it's a standard hook fitting? Could do with a non smeary blade sometime.

wd40 is a degreaser use light oil.

Really? Hmm, ok.

But it's hard to squirt light oil upwards! Actually, I do have a pumpy oil can somewhere. Not seen it since we moved 6 years ago but it must be in the garage somewhere...

use wd to free it up and clean then after its dry use light oil and pump it in,Smear around the seal with silicone grease ya get from plumbers to slide plastic pipes together.

But the problem with a P38 is that the spindle is hidden behind the spoilery thing.

I would expect that is why it holds water.can you drill it out so its free draining without mullering it.Sometimes a small hole cant be seen.

Is GT85 better than WD40 for this? Someone's just loaned me a can!
