Hello everyone can anyone help just purchased 2004/05 vogue 3.0 diesel that has got some small problems new to your site so not sure if in right place?? and who can Help
1st problem I need to solve is rear windows not working just get clicking noise from motor when using switch at the rear and main drivers door switch both motors work with direct 12v so don't know where to go from here, as I've always wanted a vogue and like things to work:( would like to get working again

Before the gurus get here and help with the issue, a little heads up, before you get your head bitten off. What you have is a Range Rover L322, with the Vogue trim. You do not have a 2004/5 Vogue.

P.s I'm sure I saw someone else with the same issue posting recently. A quick search, should bring up results. :)

Ok thanks New info regarding this issue on l322 clicking noise also coming from under nearside front seat and faint click above fuse box in glove box
any thoughts to problem:(

@stella man , @Saint.V8 Will correct me if I'm wrong but I think you need to download RAVE , which will get you the wiring diagrams. Added to which , diagnostics are essential with the L322.
Apart from Saint there are others who are clever with this type of thing. Take a look around and to get their attention you just have to type their name in an @aname format :) good luck

Not sure RAVE goes up to 2004/5?

Right - OK....

As per the below, there doesn't appear to be any relays that would be clicking in the circuits - so what you can hear clicking I am not sure, unless there are relays inside the BCU (Body Control Unit).

The Drivers Switch pack for the drivers front window is hardwired directly to the Drivers Front door window motor, the Drivers switches for the other windows go via the P Data Bus (Peripheral Bus) to the BCU to open the other windows.

The Pax side individual switch is hardwired to the Pax window motor. The Drivers Switch Pack switch for the Pax side tells the BCU to activate the Pax window motor via the P Data Bus.

The Rear individual switches are hardwired to the BCU and not to the window motors directly....the switches instruct the BCU to open/close the window. The BCU is then Hardwired to the Rear Window Motors.

The Drivers Switch Pack for the Rear Windows goes down to the BCU via the P Data Bus and instructs the BCU to power the windows.....

I hope that makes sense - as below:

Now, what to do......I would probably first suggest taking to somewhere decent diagnostics that can control the windows via diagnostics (like a Faultmate or Testbook) to see if the BCU when given a signal directly can indeed open/close the windows.

You have checked the motors work, which is grand, but what controls the motors is the BCU - so we need to ensure the BCU is 1) Getting the Open/Close signal and 2) Sending Power to the Motors.

The fact that neither the Drivers Switch Pack nor the Individual Door switches seem to open/close the windows, I would consider it to be an issue with the BCU - Diagnostics will help on this.

Now, a simple quick test......Lock the car, now unlock the car but keep your finger on the unlock button - the windows and sunroof should open.....if the rears also open, the BCU is operating the windows fine, and it could be the signal from the switch packs that is at fault (doubtful, as the Drivers Switch Pack and the door switches use differing routes.....) if they do not open, then I would be investigating the BCU.

Now, to close the windows, close all the doors, and press the lock button on the fob and hold it down, the windows and sunroof should now all close.

Hello Ant,
Big Thanks for that yes tried with lock button unlock and hold down drivers and front passenger/sunroof open, lock and hold all close
some say on the net you can factory reset bcu is this possible or just pie in the sky where you end up with more problems than started with:):(

There may be an option in the BCU to disable the rear windows - I knwo the Discovery4 has this option when it is sold as a commercial with no rear seats....all the window gubbins are there, but it is disabled in the BCU.

I am not saying that is the issue with yours or even if the L322 has this function, but fullfat diagnostics will be able to tell you.

Never got to bottom of this issue apart from diagnostics states rear window up/down relay short to battery auto electricians don't want to know

You really need to get it on some diagnostics to check if the system is or can be disabled. Also, you can then use the diagnostics to actuate the windows to see if the BCU is actually able to control them via commands

Hi everyone,
Motors are in working order both ways when 12v supply direct to them, Did have diagnostics done Ant, and direct command to both windows was not working did send you photo of codes

It's "realy" short to battery! Not sure I would trust diagnostics that can't even spell!!
In all seriousness though, which diag was used? RR's need specific diag and can throw all sorts of spurious faults on the wrong diag. Worth checking.
