Hi, we have a Freelander XDi 'S' Reg - Got a rear door/window problem - the window won't drop its normal couple of inches, but the door will unlock. Hubbie had a look and replaced the relays (after reading on thread) but still won't work. The other problem is that its ran the battery down and now the vehicle won't start....is there anyone out there that could help me or the sanity of my husband!!! Many thanks

We understand that the battery needs charging, but within an hour of window problem occuring the battery was flat and car wouldn't start, so could there be something draining the battery so quickly? (Never had any problems with battery before)

do a search for rear window, prety sure its been covered on here before.

as for battery... i have a thing called a "battery charger".

that seems to do the trick for flat batteries:D

dint i read on here that if the battery is flat yu cant get into the Hippoo. Someone sed yu have to clip a jump battery under the bay onto the starter or summat.

No the window will not work with the internal window switch, and yes we know the battery needs charging....but battery went flat overnight when the problem occurred.

Hi, had vehicle in garage for two days....who apparently can't find what the problem is, so brought home again..... tried a few other things as mentioned on this site but with no joy....definately power getting to the back door as when pressing internal window switch you can hear the power getting through, checked all fuses which seem OK. Noticed that some people have problem with rear wiper too - so are they connected, as ours won't operate either......only good thing is that the garage didn't charge!!! (but perhaps they are hoping we don't go back!!) Any more suggestions would be appreciated

What do mean by power getting through? Is the window motor turning?

Its more than likely a snapped or frayed cable, possibly dodgey regulator.

Normally the window drops if the wiper is faulty, its all connected to the hard top switch (3dr) and door handle, relays etc.

First test is to disconnect the battery, then re-connect. The window drops on re-connection, if it doesnt then look at the window regulator and cables, then we'll take it from there

Thanks for advice, going to try that now....further problem the rear window demister and light on demister switch is also not working. Vehicle runs fine, battery sound....it only runs flat when we have attempted to find fault by pressing internal button and depressing handle, this has happened twice, starts again after jump-leading.
With regards to "power getting through" when you press the internal window switch you can hear a clicking noise coming from side panel behind back seat.
Just disconnected the battery and reconnected and all that has happened is that when locking vehicle it doesn't sound the alarm which indicates that the window has now gone up to its correct position and when pressing the internal rear window switch it gives a high pitch beep from the switch/dashboard. The window still not coming down.

The clicking is the rear window relay, its behind the boot 1/4 panel drivers side, along with other wiring looms and E3 earthing point, black wire.
The relay, has 6 wires, red-blue, red -green, purple brown, blue-green, blue-black, black.
