hiya
ive got a 2002 td4 commercial 3 door freelander.
had a look at the rear window blanking plates on the rear, not the ones in the hard top.
noticed they are welded.
was wondering does anyone know of a suitable company please to get them out for me in order that the rear windows can be fitted.
thanks so much
all the best

They stuck in with mastic adhesive, same as the hard top, there are window tools available for cutting the seal from Sealey, or fabricate a craft knife to slice through it................you need leverage/pressure on the blade.

Watch those knuckles, PPE HD gloves

thanks i will check out the web site, i can see my knuckles going for a burton.

just that when i fisrt looked at it i saw alot of spot welds and thought that it ws indeed welded, so if its the mastic holding it at least i will now be able to do this myself

thanks as always for the great advice

maybe use a wire saw (bit like a cheese wire) like windscreen fitters use. could take the hardtop off first, then you could poke wire through and have one hand inside and one hand outside while you saw through it.

think I saw some in Kentons Army Surplus in Dartford High Street other day

good luck

Yes this will work, but the panels are deeply recessed (compared to windscreens), you need to work from the inside, with the plasic trim removed

The official blades are L shaped, with an additional handle for extra leverage

I used a metal handle craft knife (with rectractable blade), then mounted a plastic handle 90 degrees to the blade. (will find the mod in my toolbox and post pics)

thanks guys, by the looks of it i will have to remove the roof, take out the cargo tray, then unscrew the wooden base, remove the side panels.

i was wondering when i do get round to converting it fully if there would be any demand for the rear guard, floor panel and rear cargo tray.

have been checking out some web sites, will check out the dartford one too,

i like the idea of the wire as i suppose it wont matter if i scratch the blanking panels.

cannot thank you enough for such great help really do appreciate it
