I have a problem with my '99 Freelander. Since about two weeks, the tailgate/ rear window does not drop when opening the tailgate door. The lock itself opens, but then the door cannot be opened as the window stays up. I can push the window down a bit by hand, so that the door opens. If I then close the door, the window closes automatically as usually expected. Also all other functions work - I can regulate the window from the driver's panel and also the wiper works fine. I opened the door to look into the door's interior, but everything seems okay so far. The cable and wiring seems intact and nothing looks broken.

Any ideas? I am grateful for any hint. I live in Kyrgyzstan, with no Landrover dealer nearby. The guy from the garage looked at it, but not knowing what exactly the problem might be he simply proposed to change the whole interior (except the window) for 750$ (!).
Cheers, Nils

might be worth recalibrating the rear window.

disconnect battery, wait 10 mins, reconnect, window should go all the way down.

turn ignition on, drive window up using dash switch, should bleep twice then job done.

(make sure you have radio code before disconnecting battery)
