Hi does anyone know if I was to buy a rear view camera for a 54 plate rangie will it just be a straight forward plug in ?
thanks guys

There may be other options available but i deal with a company called navtv. looks an expensive option if you don`t have tv tuner!

Hi mate,

Yes it is possible to connect a reversing camera, only if you have the TV tuner built in, if you have the vogue spec then I'm 99% sure you will have the tuner, one easy way to tell is do you have TV, or television lised on the main menu on the screen? If you have an American spec range rover then you will proberley not have the tv tuner as these were never an option in the US. If you have the TV option then it's a case of modifying the multi plug that goes into the TV module and connect the camera to it. I have a list of the pin outs for the multi plug so if you want it let me know. As I understand it is then a case of wiring it into the the reversing lights so that when you put the car into reverse the camera display overrides what ever elese is on the screen. The more difficult bit it where and how to mount it to the vehicle, the more modern rangies have it mounted next to the rear window wiper under the bit of plastic that sticks out over the wiper blade, but I'm not 100% sure how you would route the wiring back to the computer compartment in the boot area.

I added a reversing camera to my 2003 vogue and it was a simple job. Simple because on Ebay there is someone selling plans (wiring) on how to do it with a list of parts (relay-camera and a few bits of wire) and suggested suppliers. Yes it requires the TV module - my camera is fitted into the nearside reversing lamp lens. As soon as you select reverse it overrides what is on the computer screen - if you get the correct camera it also works in the dark (infra red) - which makes reversing into a garage at night a much more pleasant job. :)

Make sure you get a NTSC version I have read that it will only work with this version, not sure why you need a NTSC version for the reversing camera when the TV system is PAL. When I looked into it the only way you can use a PAL reversing camera is to splice into the IBUS system and use a custom IBUS USB adapter and software to modify the systems parameters, search on google for a USB IBUS adapter and you will find a geman guy selling them. I have never don't it my self but have done research into it, give me a shout and will try and help out as much as I can, I'm on holiday at the mo till Sunday so when I get back home I will dig out the TV module PIN outfor you.

Good luck

Hi,

Thinking about doing this to my '03 Vogue, would you be able to list the parts / suppliers that you used to help?

Thanks,

Simon

got a camera on mine, only yesterday had some smart arse tell me my range is a child killer and you cant see small kids behind. when i pointed out actually I have a reversing camera so not really a problem, walked off muttering something under his breath. tree hugging, bill oddy loving tosser. Loving my range even though spanners have been out too many times for my liking, gives me a chance to talk about her.
