Disco 2 Rear step gas strut

Hi All,

I am having to do a repair to the rear step similar to https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/rear-step-replacement.309274/ but mine doesn't seem to have the gas strut, so I thought I'd get one, however, Land Rover only lists the gas strut to VIN 1A298103 (KVL100040) and nothing later, but some suppliers list a gas strut for 1998 to 2004. Mine is a 2004 Landmark.

Any ideas if this will fit, or was the strut not fitted after 1A298103?

There are gas strut suppliers who have a vast range of sizes and resistances. If you can get a measurement try Google. Mine is buried at the back of my shed so I can't get access easily to measure.

But there are a a lot of suppliers. I just got a pair for a Citroen Pluriel and they were perfect, took almost second s to fit.
I did this search cos the Pluriel is quite a rare car,

and some of them just ask for dimensions

Thank you. I'm getting too old to jump up in one go and the grandchildren are too small to do the same!

I've not got the step out yet to properly measure things, I just freed off the bolts a couple of months ago, but the references look really useful.
