My 'old' D2 has blue rear springs and sits a bit higher at the rear than my 'new' D2 which seems to have standard springs ( obviously both have had spring conversions). Having grounded out my towbar on speed humps a couple of times, how difficult would it be to swap them over? Is it just a case of jack it up, compress the springs and swap 'em? The ones on my old D2 are blue. I didnt do either conversion but from a bit of research, the blues seem to be bearmach HD's.

Of course, it could be your old sprongs are knackered,

what is the dimension from the ctr of the wheel to the underside of the wheel arch? Std iirc is 483 mm +- 15mm

Cheers

I was gonna say, I've still got the original "plow" style towbar and it's never hit any speed bumps, with either bags or coils. The new coils I fitted the other week are blue ones, and the back does seem to sit a bit higher, but it hasn't affected the driving in any way, other than making it better than SLS

I'll measure it. It does seem a bit too bouncy compared to the old one and does seem to roll more, even with working ACE. Anyway, is it an easy swap? Can i just jack it on the chassis and compress the springs to get them out?

This is what the book of woe states:

500mm is approx 15mm higher than standard & 450 is approx 30mm below - ie knackered - lol (unless you carrying a lot of weight in the back.
Swapping them is as easy as you say. Make sure you disconnect the ABS connectors & remove the brake pipe flexis from their mtgs before you lower the axle / lift the body to prevent them being over stretched
Beware - I think all Bearmach springs might be blue, so apart from the 15mm lift, you can't be sure of the actual spec on your other D2 unless you can spot the Part No. they paint onto the springs. I've got Bearmach uprated Defender springs on the back of our D2 - They are also blue!

Hi pawl, my old D2 handled nice and firmly compared to the new one, even though it had 16" rims and the new one has 18" rims. Theoretically, the 18" should have better road manners. ( not sure i like them tbh, - less rubber between the alloys and the kerb/rocks/logs/potholes etc...) anyway, the blue springs were fine on the old one and if i swap them, i might stop ploughing speedbumps with my towbar!
