Rear Springs - Which spec + How to

Dear Landyzone,

Looking at replacing the rear springs on my Classic Rangie 95 just to pick up the sagging back end before a terrafirma 2" lift in a few months time - hopefully :).

What spec springs would you suggest. No expedition kit but 3 big LPG tanks on the axel and 2 more under the sills weighing it down.

Would these do.
RANGE ROVER CLASSIC HEAVY DUTY REAR COIL SPRINGS. Red and white stripe. Pair. | eBay

Also, read the RAVE and it says a spring compressor - is this essential as i dont have any ?

From memory yes you'll need spring compressor or you risk stretching brake pipes, Boge strut also limits movement. I used some simple spring clamps that use nuts and bolts, not quick but effective. Blimey must be 20 years ago since I did it :eek:
 
how about..fitting air lifters..feckimg good and adjustable..
but if going for new springs just fit the ones u want.dont bother with some for now.why do the jpb twice??
 
Zen good point. However, The full kit is about £600 springs are £40. My back end is sagging making it look abit stupid and seems to handle weird also. Over August im doing alot of miles and seeing alot of mates and want it looking its best for not much money.

Its either full kit now, car looks awesome BUT no drinking money or £40, car looks good and alot of drinking money - I Know which id prefer :)

Stufer - any idea on how longer job it will be ? i've got a a decent range of sockets + spanners etc and abit of common sense. Do you reckon its a 2 hour job or all day job ?
 
Took about half a day, maybe more as I seem to remember avin to split Boge strut joint with a mahoosive splitter to drop the axel to get room (they were stiff springs me compressor wasn't a proper one). That joint went with such and bang ah fell off the tool box I was sat on and nearly swallowed me fag :what:
