Want to wire in an internal spotlight to shine thro the rear window. Where's the best place to take a live feed from bearing in mind it will have to be switched.

Wire it into reverse light so it just comes on when reverse selected if that suits.

EDIT: Also prevents the accidental blinding of drivers behind you when you forget to switch off an independently switched lamp.

What are you trying to do/achieve? Most lights will reflect badly off the glass. What size unit are you thinking of? And as someone else said, what vehicle.

If it will be pulling a lot of amps, it'll need wiring to correctly support it. Which in most cases might just be easier to run a live down the vehicle to it. But it really depends, I suspect pulling a Disco 3/4 apart to run a wire under the carpets would be a ballache. On a Disco 1, not so much.

Wire it into a switch on the dash with a WARNING light. Far too easy to leave on other wise and the plods will pull you as they did me nearly 50 years ago for the same thing, twin reversing lights on a Mini boot, warning light didn't "warn". It is illegal not to have this.
