I know it's been done before I've done the searches, I've seen the RDX items and the OEM stuff.

I would like to see pics of other peeps stuff that are none of the above, the acoustic properties of the plastic trims don't inspire me, I fancy something in mdf but would like some ideas. I also fancy them above the back door but the rear window surrounds limit space.

It's a 110 CSW with bech seats in back.

Got some ford focus speakers in a homemade MDF box that squares off the pannel for the rear lights both sides , sounds alright tbh . just bolted to the arch with some angle brackets and one screw holding the top down :) . 8" active sub rachet strapped to the dog guard works a treat too :D .

Used after market plastic ones in my 90 - fitted well and look neat. Sounds isn't marvellous, but over the engine noise wasn't a key priority - use them more when parked up or when working underneath:D

I'm half way through making some for mine (I.e. so far I've only done one side).

I couldn't decide if I wanted them up high or down low. So went for low down for now, but left enough wire for if I change my mind later on.

I just used 6mm external ply, and a combination of some galv steel strip from Wickes for brackets, and some cheapo shelf brackets from Screwfix.

It could do with some tidying but this is the work in progress.

I went for a pair of these in my 110 CSW. They aren't as good as getting some custom fit stuff but I find the sound is pretty good off them and you can install them out of the way.

I like the Defendoor trims so will go for these.

What's the best way to run the speaker wires from the HU back. Cleanest looks to be along to the A pillar, up the A pillar and under the roof trim.

What have you guys done.

You seen the genuine mudstuff ones Denis? £25 but you can only fit 4". It was sufficient in my td5 so I think I'm going for them, it's difficult to post img on IPad so just have a look their website.

My wires run up the pillar, tucked in behind roof lining and held in by seal and the follow the tops of the rear trim and down in the corners.

Routed my speaker cables:

- Under dash and past wiper motor
- Up to roof lining under the removable windscreen pillar trim
- Down behind the pillar that the door shuts onto (one where seatbelt is)
- Through (inside) the capping - the metal strip that joins the rear sides together

This saw the only visible cable running down where the seatbelts are - and I only see that when throwing stuff in the back:)

A few pictures of what I did, my dad and I made the 6x9 and 170mm speaker boxes and I stuffed them with polyester 'wool' they don't distort much now :D and the Sub and enclosure was bought off a mate for £20 :) Also the Kenwood amp was £120 :tea:
