hi

So wished to add a few pictures and video to help others who have this issue, mine just failed whilst it was having its MOT, this is an instant mot failure where the door cannot be opened , because in an emergency situation door much be able to be opened from outside

When the door actuator fails they can unfortunately fail locked so can’t open the door, which would mean forcing the inner door panel off and would be ruined

This is the trick , use the lock / unlock button whilst pulling the door handle that’s failed , 5 x times and 90% of the time door will open

After I got the door opened it just a case of removing the door panel, just take ur time so u don’t damage it and be aware of the electrical cable and inner door handle cable

As per video gives better details

Note when removing the white clip to disconnect the glass, be warned that clip is not available on its own, if u break it will have to buy new glass

Enclosed some pics

Follow the video for replacement

This is where I bought mine from

Also may sound daft , these actuators are sided so not interchangeable from LH to RH

Hope this helps someone who has this issue

Sorry buddy , have changed the title to rear side door

Why have u got issues with ur tailgate then
No issues but when I fitted the prospeed roof rack you have to remove the part with opening handle and number plate lights from the car so you can drill for the rear ladder. It says in the instructions not to shut the tailgate whilst opening mechanism is not fitted, so you can guess what happens next.
Once shut, there’s no way of open it , but after searching internet there’s an emergency procedure using the dash mounted switch, which eventually opened it., so I didn’t know if it would work on your door

Ah i see and makes sense, yes mate and many thks as that’s what I did using a combination of the dashboard switch and door handle the open the door

Big relief that’s for sure when it opened

Just waiting for the new actuator to arrive so can get it back in for its mot retest

Thks again

Getting the handle wire back on your door card can be fun

Well new lock arrived, this looks fun, lol

As it’s just me I’ve got to push a clip to release it and push the glass up at the same time

So thinking of taping the glass at the top, then pushing the clip in and using the electric window switch to lower the clip out of the glass which in theory should release it

Can see in this example pic of the clip

There’s also a write up here if it may help others in the future

Taping the glass up works just fine, but dont do it outside in this heat as the heat effects the glue and the glass drops on your head leaving a lovely gash as your head is punced into the sharp metal door aperture edge!

Thks mate , that’s what a thought tapping it up and using the electric window switch, so can push the clip in with a screwdriver whilst tapping the down switch so the glass comes away from the clip

Ouch , I’m not going to ask how u know ;)

I took the rubber door to glass trim off and used a long screwdriver down the gap to twist and pop the clip off the glass, its a fiddly fcuk but Im sure its one of them things that once you have done it a few times you can do it blindfolded.
I did try getting my arm behind the glass with a small screwdriver but I couldnt get the grip and get the arm in there at the same time.

Thks, that’s a good idea u know, I’ve got a tool that’s like a flexable senior hack saw blade but has no teeth on it , so might work ??

Will see if I can get it between the glass and clips to push them away

Thks again

Hi

Well taped up the glass and held the clip with my hand, pushed it then dabbed the window switch and it dropped straight out of the clip

New lock all fitted and had it retested this morning and sailed through its MOT, without advisories either

So at least the last 12 x months hard work has finally paid off :D
