L322 Rear Seat belt leak

Hi all,

I’m getting a moderately bad leak coming above the rear seat belts and hoped someone had some experience.

A thorough search shows problems with sunroof leaks but I have checked the runners and all is very clean in there. I have also siliconed the screw holes under the roof rack clips as they were advised as a potential source of the leak, nothing has stopped it.

Any ideas please? It’s seems leaks are common but not at this area. Thanks

A client of mine with an l322 had holes in the rear inner arches, the humidity was gretting in from there. The same place the heater was blowing air out of!!!
His "hole" car had water droplets behind every panel and the roof lining.
Does the aircon work?

The drain tubes for the sunroof might be burst or dislodged ,pour some water in the sunroof channels see if it runs out of rear seat belt or under car .Bit extreme but needs must ....

Strangely enough I just had my rear arches repaired last week but unfortunately it’s not related. The amount of water there (it’s wet to the touch on the headliner and just above the seat belt) would definitely lead me to believe it’s more than condensation also unfortunately. Thanks for the suggestion though. Do you know if it’s easy to remove the headliner to investigate? Thanks again

Thanks that’s a good idea. I’m assuming the channels on the sunroof (I think there are 4 in total, one in each corner, with the front two going down the A pillar and the rears going down where the leak is?). Could I in theory block up the offending channel so water is then routed through the other three?

I’m guessing if it is a drain channel that’s broken the whole headliner would have to come out to replace?

Dropping the headliner I've not done yet!!
I'd start at each pillar cover and work from there, just watch for wires and squirrels..

Hi, you and I are on a similar quest. I have again gone to the car this morning to find 2cm of water in the boot. I find it inconceivable that my leak is coming via the sunroof as it all looks very dry up top but I need to pull the trim to see if I have a body seam or glass to body leak. I’ll be watching your progress and will post whatever I discover, who knows we may eventually find a solution to the Range Rover L322 water ingress enigma.

Boot seal and around that area is common on certain ones. Not sure if it’s a trim thing?

If only I could just change the boot seal but it’s absolutely not the case on mine. See this pic, the water trail comes down from the D pillar behind all the media kit emerging at the boot floor. Parts of the outer and interior trim will have to come off at some point to find the leak path. We will be victorious in this quest, he said!

Thanks for your post, I’m struggling to get the outer D Pillar trim off, it may have to get busted. I’m trying to avoid stripping out interior trim but may have no option.
Going to try the hosepipe test today on the bumper mounting plate seals as they are in the right place and look a bit perished. Also I have roof rails that were fitted before I got the car that haven’t been an obvious leak but with endless washing could have had a dirt seal! Will update as I get new info.
