Hi,

I have recently purchased a 59 plate Td4-e and after having had it for a couple of weeks noticed a loud rattle/knocking coming from the rear passenger suspension. After about 10mph it is really loud even over the smallest of bumps.

Any ideas what this may be? And any help hugely welcome.

Thanks.

If you got it from a dealer, take it back. If you got it privately, then you'll need to investigate the fault yourself, or pay someone to take a look.
A simple check is to see if the mass damper on the underside of the spring cap has come loose. These do have a habit of falling off, after the rubber damper breaks up.

It looks like this.

My f1 made those noises when I first got it, I thought it was the exhaust banging on something but it turned out to be the drag links (or whatever they are called) at the front, even though the noise seemed to be coming from the rear near side. Apparently, they are not a great design and might need changing every year. Mine have been on a bit less than a year and are already starting to rattle again.

I thought mine was the exhaust too till I realised that the car was silent over a bump on any of the other 3 wheels. I will get this checked out thanks again for the suggestion
