Rear parking sensor sounder

Hi new to the forum: Got a Disco 2 with rear park sensors and the beeper some where in the tail gate has stopped squeaking. Anybody any ideas where it is hidden?

According to Rave, there is a trim panel in the rear of the luggage compartment on the left hand side. There is a bracket in there mounted in the E post, with the sounder in one side, the ECU on the other side.

Sounder original part number is YWG000061, though this appears to have been superceded by LR006842. Cost about £10.50 from lrdirect.com.

I've ordered part 3 from LRdirect which was c£14 delivery. Hopefully will do the jobs as everything else seems ok.

Indeed, but we live in a tight street which we park on and our V50 has them.... so for £15 I think its a wise investment versus an insurance excess, given the other half is driving the disco 90% of the time!

So the speaker arrived, but I still have the problem.... no sound. The dash flashes orange...

So far I think I have no successfully fixed anything first time!

If u need a used reversing ecu I have one - speaker It's more than Often than not wiring problem or sensor

Thanks Darren, if I decided to swap it I'll give you a shout.

I am going to see if I have any power to the ECU and but I think it will be wiring issue...

I guess I am correct in thinking it cannot be a sensor as I have no sound and the dash button flashes?

I know this is an old post, but it’s the exact same fault I have had.

Is there a known area in the wiring that could cause the fault.

I have no sound from th sounder at all, all four sensors on the bumper give out a clicking sound, and the amber light on the switch does flash.

I guess there is no easy way to test the ecu or sounder for the system. So I thought I go with wiring first. All connectors and wires that can be seen where the ecu is located look in good condition as do the plugs.

Yes, it is an old fred and sadly I don't think you'll qualify for the "thread revival of the month" award this time. So let's start as if it's a new one.

What vehicle are you talking about, or is it still your 300tdi Disco 1?

From what I understand, a flashing indication on the switch is usually caused by a faulty PDC ECU.

LOL, next time lol.

It's my 2004 Discovery 2 ES Premium with the parking sensor fault. Only had this one since October.

Still have my 300tdi, though it has issues at the moment, but hopefully the faults will be fixed.

On the 2004 D2, the PDC ECU and sounder are behind the trim on the passenger's side of the vehicle, right at the back, low down just inside the rear tailgate door.
I don't think that second user (aka "pre-loved") units are that expensive, check out ebay or Gentlemen of Salvage. I believe that the sounder is part of the PDC ECU.
As with all of the electrictronics on the D2, moisture is the greatest enemy and I wouldn't be surprised if the sounder has got damp in the past.

Got both the ecu and sounder out ok. Sounders are about £25 and ecu is around £50, was seeing if there was a way to test the sounder. Ecu looks complex inside.

Managed to buy both for £40 all in, so fingers crossed, if it works when they are both installed, may play about a bit and see which one had the fault.

Of course if nether work, must be a wiring issue.

If thats the any case any known areas of concern that I could check first just.

All sorted, 2nd hand ecu and sounder arrived today.

First attempt of plugging in my old ecu with the new sounder and bingo it works.

So new sounder on, and all put back together and have a spare ecu for it.
