May i ask has anyone replaced there rear lower wishbones and if so what kind of job it is plse

Got a few other bits planned that I would also like to get done this year , IE,

Remove my old 17 inch wheels and fit a set of 19 inch rims with 5 x new tyres , along with increasing the front discs to 337mm and rears to 350mm

Pondering about if I should replace the original rear struts at the same time

plus need to find out when I get my new tyres fitted if they will also take the 17 wheels off my hands and if they will charge me for disposal

Suppose at the end of the day wondering if I can save some pennies by doing the lower wishbones myself , won’t need alignment like the uppers did , plus if the bolts on the lowers are prone to seizing up like the uppers

sorry I’m waffling as per usual, lol, , many thks as always

Not too bad, easier than front lower arms, upper rear arms are an absolute swine though.
Spray some red lead paint on the bolt offset washers, so you can put them back in the same place. ;)

thanks mate

have already had the pleasure of replacing the rear uppers and indeed as u say are a complete and utter #&*(£*#(# , also replaced all the brake hoses, that short pipe and drop links at the same time

plus looking at tyres I’ve looked between the Yokohama geolander and the falken wildpeaks in the size of 255/55/19 , coming out around £150 per tyre fitted and balanced , don’t know which one yet

sorry for the daft question plse , but will I still need to spray some red paint on the lower bolts seeing they won’t need alignment after

will do the lowers as a pair , plus I think I’ll have to simply take my old rims to the dump as I doubt tyre companies will take the rims as well , but will advertise them here and on the D3 forum when I’m ready just in case someone might want them for off roading etc or as a spare set of X5 wheels

At least once there done I’ll get the larger discs fitted so at least then my brakes and tyres will all be new

looked at these

I’ve done the Britpart drilled/grooved disc upgrade all around with Brembo pads, couple of new rear calipers while I was there.

Stopping power is now remarkable for such a big unit! Pads don’t make too much dust either, unlike the EBC jobbies they have replaced….
