Rear load restraint bar

Ey up,

I would quite like to put a bar across behind the rear seats of my disco, I'm often carrying dive tanks and it would be good for safety and just to give me something to lash them to.

I was thinking to weld some "pockets" onto the rear arch area so a bar could be dropped in and bolted in place, easy enough to remove when I need the full load space.

Something like this with a bit of 3" or so box section running across.


Any thoughts? Anyone done similar?

For such a practical vehicle it's distinctly lacking in tie down points!

Theres 4 tie down points in the disco floor all u need is bolts and D rings.

True I remember seeing the drilled and tapped holes now. Paddocks have the D rings for £13 for 8.

would still like to fit this bar though.

Not sure I'd tie anything down to my disco boot floor!

I reuse transit tie down points with a 50mm square washer
under it.
