I have, but it's not what you'd expect, it cost £25 and passed its MOT. Was sick of the OEM part filling with slime and generally looking mollox.

I bought a Britpart rear fog. Lasted abut two years before half the LED's went out. Circuit too complex to try and work out why. Went back to a bulb one cos they're cheap as chips (actually cheaper), work no bother and are maintainable.

I've got wipac LEDs except for Bolt-on NAS stop/ tail, fitted easily, and have been perfectly reliable for some years.. Good LEDs cost, no way round that.

Are you saying the more you pay relates to a better led? I know that is the case in most things, but are there superior led, s and how can you tell, apart from the price.

My main reason for going LED was because the normal housings just filled up with water and rotted away the connection, MOT man charging £1.20 a bulb when they where fine and got sick of bulbs falling out as well.

Realised its actually been 6 years now full LED set not one issue or problem with either the Wipac units or the BoB units. BoB also sell the older square versions should you want those.

Mmm I thought they were. As I got indicators etc from them.
Got some TD5 side repeaters that fit a 300 tdi
Try britpart then? Unusual for me to have blue bag on the motor.
Not near my local supplier till later for a possible part number.

Most LEds them selves will come out of the same factory whatever the unit you buy. The difference will be in the assembly into a unit. Wipac are likely to have set a specification that is good. They are a well known brand over many years. If you were to buy something similar from China it may or may not be built to a good specification. Remember the standard incandescent units the specification was set by Land Rover definitely built down to a cost wipac could do better but Land Rover wouldn't pay the cost.
I have Bob and wipac unit LEDs , both appear to have been potted well and I've had no problem with them,

I just bought a set of these ones:
https://www.getoffroad.com/land-rov...003-nas-defender-reverse-clear-led-round-lamp
Look around the sight you can buy all the lamps individually or in a full set. They supply a relay with indicators to correct the flash frequency.
I ordered mine at 4pm on Thursday and they arrived at 10am the following day!
I also got two lovely high gloss wing mirrors at a storming £12 each and they look just the job too as the motor is black.
Will probably fit them on Sunday, will post a pic if you want.

WIPAC have been doing lights since I was a bairn. Used to be on all the rally motors on the TV along with Hellas. They're generally a good brand I think, but time will tell with these NAS lights. 2 year warranty.

Yes and no. The actual LED manufacturers make a big batch of light emitting diodes and then they actually grade them into different bins dependent on many factors including colour temperature, light output etc. There will be up to 10 bins or grades of the same LED. So a LED type from a particular manufacturer will have a product code for the type of LED say type XYX123. However this does not tell you anything about the grade or BIN. For this you would need the rest of the product code say XYZ123/ABC987654. The LED out of the top grade or BIN will be $ each. Those from the bottom bin will be cents each.

Guess which BIN the well known reputable LED light manufacturers buy from and which binBIN the cheap unbranded lights come from.

Now we get various emails from China and some are quite amusing as some comment 'We use genuine original CREE LEDs not the fake CREE lights made in China by fake makers'

Last week we got an email saying we can laser etch your company name and any markings you like on these LED headlight lens. That is from a company in China as a 'cold call email' . Would I trust the quality of the LEDs from this company?

Have even seen LED headlights with fake certificate of approval. One LED headlight had an approval certificate for a brake light from a different manufacturer.

On ebay there are some sellers using a reputable brand name and product code to sell non approved, unbranded lights which do not even look like the reputable brand light.

So YES buying a reputable branded light from a reputable seller you will get a better LED.

NO the average buyer will not be able to tell the difference.

Best advice is stick to a respected reputable brand name. No brand name chances are cheap illegal LED lights with poor light output, radio interference and water ingress.

Thanks Branding, very informative . The fact is, I can't get the replica lamps from a reputable company . B.o.b said they can't find a good enough version to sell so opt for a good quality, different shape. I will call the seller on eBay that is asking top money to see if they are branded.
