Hi Alan ... Oh noooooooo sorry to hear that, hope it's nothing too drastic ! Wishing you good luck. Not had much chance to look at mine today but reading everyones comments and thoughts and with a bit of extra research myself I'm hopefully confident it's nothing more than the rear half shaft for me ! :O

Be sure to let us know what you find, for two reasons, it is helpful to people who may experience same/similar issues with their vehicles in the future.
And it helps with my old brain taking in the information on the symptoms as you experience them, I sort of treat it as keeping in touch with diagnostic skills, (sadly lacking in this computer aided age), built up from 50 years in the mechanical trade, not always right, sometimes lucky.
That is what is so good about "the zone", such a great depth of experience amongst it's members, because owning a Landy is so "hands on" someone somewhere has had to deal with any problem in a Landy that you may come up with.

If you are changing a half shaft, replace the drive flange as well ... assuming that it was the shaft and not a stripped flange!

:Do_Oo_O

Hi Jess in my beloved Cornwall. One thing that I have experienced in the "L zone" is that some members do enjoy spreading doom and gloom. I will always bury my head and the sand and look towards the brighter side of life

Yes, I might be wearing coulored blinkers, but it means that I can spend more energy considering the simple solution. I hate to count up the number of time someone has suggested that my head gasket has blown, or the cylinder block is cracked. They might be correct, but I would take a slightly less pessimist view, and check out the smaller, less expensive fixes before getting stressed out about how am I going to sort out this expensive problem o_O

Have a good weekend :D
