Hi guys I seen this pic a while ago on bolt on bits, I really liked the minimal look at the rear end with just having the one light cluster. Ive found the light cluster but ive been wondering how they did it. or if in fact they actually did or is it photo shopped because on the pic they have done away with the corner cappings and so now I'm wondering did they remove the whole end panel of the tub and fab a new one, and if they did can you now buy them???? I know they've changed the rear door setup aswell but I'm not interested in that I prefer the original style.

The rear door is just a normal rear door with a piece of tinted glass over the back, its available off the shelf. Nothing unique about it.

looks like a bit of a custom job on the corner cappings. Could have had the end panels welded together. Lot of effort really... don't see the point

The lights clusters are available from ebay for £18 a piece I think from my memory. I have a set in the workshop ready to go on mine but ive been putting it off :)

Yeh I knew it was a normal rear door with a glass panel, but they changed the door lock mechanism to a push button which I didn't like anyway. ive sourced the lamps myself from LED autolamps but the a lot more than 18 nicker, I don't need the revese lights cuz I wired my two led work lights in to my reverse so its a little bit bright when reversing :), will have to sort out a fog light though.

I was thinking of getting some corner cappings and modifying them and making them slimline, basically where they round out for the lights cut that away, and brazen some ali into the holes where the lights go in the rear panel.

oh yeah I hadn't noticed the door. (you must eat more carrots than me... any more than zero!)

It looks gash with a push button.

Hate them things with the indicator in the rear brake light, nearly collided with a VW golf, on a bright day the brake light hides the indicator.

Just enquired about how this was done, and it was a piece of 2mm laser cut steel welded to the end capping and top tub capping then counter sunk riveted to the door edge and bottom to the existing panel.

seemed simple enough once I was told, but what I'm now wondering is what type of gasket do people use to put between steel and aluminium to stop electrolysis, so that the welded steel isn't in direct contact with the original aluminium panel?

Any advice would be welcome

Pity they spoilt it with that lone piece of checker plate on the rear quarter.

Why not use alloy sheet instead of steel, easier to cut etc.
