rear doorleak ...water in tool bo

I now there are lots of posts about this, but I found a new different angle.. . the rear door of the 2001 freelandy.
The rear door would not stay shut so I taped it up.
When I got around to looking at it, the door would not open.
I took off the rear finisher on the left and top. For the last 2 weeks we had a lot of rain. To surprise I found not a drop of water in the rear despite an earlier persistent leak.
I guess the top finisher is direting water inside the rear.
Any thoughts on this theory?

I assume you mean the tailgate door is stuck and the window fully up. If not are you a five door version. As for the water in the toolbox this is normally the seam around the well needing sealant.

If the rear door isn't fully shut, then the door will leak water into the boot.
