rear door

the rear door on my defender 110 will not stay open it has a swing away wheel carrier. wether it's the weight or something, is there a strong door stay or piston i can buy it solve it.

I have a similar problem on my rear door without the carrier. I think this is probably caused by worn hinges. So replace them or get a gas strut to damp the mechanism, like these...

I have a small hook type thing near the bottom inside of the door where there is a cutaway bit for a rail. When the door is fully opened, the hook is designed so that it should automatically hold the slidy rail bit. Mines fallen off, but I put it back in when I need the door to stay open. (excuse my fantastic descriptive skills)

I had a look at craddocks, and I believe it's called a 'rear door release lever' in the 90/110 - doors/tailgates/fitting/furniture section.
