Mornin' all,

I was looking at how to take the rear door trim panel off, ('98 Tdi), without breaking all the plastic retainers the other night. The book says to take off all the bits that screw through the panel, (Cor, wouldn't have thought of that!:) ), then use a trim removal tool to remove the panel.

So what does this 'ere tool look like and would it be easy enough to make one? Failing that, anybody got any good tips for doing it?

Cheers.

I have just had to take the door trim off to gel to the CL servo. Lots of screws around the sub loudspeaker.

I had only had to pull half of the trim away at the door lock end to get the servo out, only four clips but I broke two, only the little bit on the part of the clip that slides into the slot in the back of the trim, so i was able to reuse them.
In the old days the plastic clips can get very brittle in cold weather but now they are made of nylon so not so bad.

Tip: slowly with a flat blade ease the trim away ether side if each clip take your time.

And another link for the tool below and although I have been taking the trim off doors for 40+ years I have never got myself one.
