After stripping rear door af all its parts and destroying the securing clips we prodded and pushed the levers on the chinese rod puzzle and tried to trace which rod went where , the lock gave a light CLICK and wonders the lock operated and door opened. The problem left was the dual speakers had disintergrated. All parts replaced, now lookking for speaker replacement.
The spaniel enjoyed his day in the shooting field but dog box still in bits awaiting restoration.
A little bit of gentle off roading thro forestry roads and field tracks, like driving on grease, disco sliding and slipping, good fun everything working except speakers.
"Thanks again for advice" Who was the demented person who designed a lock which is reputed not to be thief proof but a puzzle to work on?

As I said in previous post it is NOT thief proof and I gave you the way in which a thief would get in. Looks as if you didn't try it!
Anyway, unbelievably, it is possible to repair the woofers you have found in the rear door. This is just one of MANY sites that tell you how to repair speakers. https://audiokarma.org/forums/index.php?threads/ripped-speaker-cone-repair-or-replace.649724/

I have a couple of set of the speakers il check & see what condition they in. ;)

Ref the tape method to open door would be OK if the lock actuator was not working, everything was working but the lock mechanism had "jammed", was hoping to see what the problem was - noy joy hence all parts off and the opened the door as if by magic!
What speakers are recommended?

Something that meets your budget, have a close size dimension to the existing is handy and have holes tapped in the rear the magnets to retain the amp like the existing do, also are of a midrange frequency down to 40 or 50Hz, the brand manufacturer of the loudspeakers is up to you.
You should find what u want on the sites of the ICE shops.

Truly a mystery then! (the lock I mean!)

Lock will not open, the auto lock is working all other doors are OK, the tailgate will not budge. I have noticed that the key barrel is moving when the key is inserted in fact the barrel is very wobbly. My problem is that I have a dog box in the boot so to remove innere door card is nigh on impossible, don't wish to destroy box, any ideas how to open the lock. HELP needed.
Try powerful.co.uk some good info

And there is more, lock operated fine for a number of days, then it jammed again. Preparing to strip the door when I gave the door handle a few sharp "jiggles" as suggested previously and could hear the mechanism move and door opened. Thanks for that helpfull advice. Next given time remove badge and investigate why lock has moved out of line?

At last removed the Oval badge, othing bhind no securing bolt just the handle. To gain access to the mechanism is not as Haynes illustrates, must have to remove door card. Still cannot find why the lock barel has moved out of line.

Beginning to wonder now if we need to think a bit further out of the box.
Could it be that the door has dropped so far on its hinges that it is jamming the mechanism?
Just saying!

The door is opening as I mentioned a sharp jiggle of the handle and the mechanism moved, thr problem I have now is that the lock barrel is loose and has moved about 5mm out of line, cannot find the cause without stripping the card from the door and removing the lock handle mech from inside.

I'd do that then. Not too much of a prob, just buy the cheapo trim removing kit with the placcy tools in it. Oh and one steel one. Once off you can see how many you need to replace!
Anyway, once off you can check that the hinges are in the right place and that the lock components all line up with the door aperture. If that is all OK then you are into a new lock mechanism.:(

Replace them all. Less than a fiver off ebay. They will be brittle. You will need around 20. Its worth getting them before taking the panel off, so you can finish the job.
