does any one know how to remove the rear door lock barrel on a 90. i have the key for the old barrel but i want to remove to replace it with a new one as its abit ropey and the key has a slight crack in it so want to change it over before it snaps completely. peeps can pm me the answer if they don't want to post it on an open forum for obvious reasons.

From what ah can remember.. ah think ye need to take the complete lock assembly off. There's a wee pin that goes through it somewheres that holds the barrel in. Ah'm sure ah stuck some photies up somewheres (not in me guides) ;)

Ye can see the pin that goes through in one photie and the hole it fits in in another...

When ye do come to change it.. kee the key in the barrel until it's fitted! ;):D

your piccies look very similar to mine but mine has'nt got the small brass pin you showed. either way i have just been out to the garage and got the lock/handle unit off the door and cleaned up the unit with a wire brush and found the hole mentioned above, it was filled with crud. now removed the old lock and fitted the new lock. :) thanks buster for the help and the pics.

Have you tried giving it a squirt with penetrating oil and then hitting the body of the barrel with a hammer?

Sorry, couldn't resist earlier comment ... yerz iz an Essex Girl after all ;)

Yeah, he's got the whole unit off, and the old barrel out. Trouble is, he has a short fuse when working on his beloved, so ya can't tell him anything. Bless!

THEengineer, thanks for the eBay link - think I might just as well buy a new one for him - it'll save my ears. :D

As for you Oldseadog, none taken mate - it was my first comment to him! :D :D
