Any ideas how to remove the rear door lock barrel WITHOUT the key? It was all corroded up when i got the car and never got a key for it. I'm ready to get it replaced!

I read that i need to push a bin into the hole half way down the barrel, but everything says i need to turn the key at the same time!

Can you Drill the barrel out so the inners fall out.
Turn with screw driver then push the pin in?

I think a rivit stem fits in the hole as the spring & ball may be stuck.

I thought i needed to turn the key prior to putting the pin in that hole though? If i put a screwdriver (i assume we're talking about putting flat head into the key slot?) in, will that allow it to turn enough, or do i need the 'locking' parts to turn too?

The small hole has a spring ball bearing which when you put the pin down depresses the spring to release the lock barrel.

Problem is likely to be the barrel is seized in the outer sleeve.

Punch the spring ball down and wiggle the lock with a screwdriver, try to grab the end of the barrel in a vice alternatively to pull the blighter out. But you do need to depress the spring loaded pin to make it happen

If it's anything like my rear door lock, almost any key of the right size will open it.

That's every defender isn't it? Doesn't even have to be a key, just something vaguely key shaped that will fit in the barrel hence the screw driver reference earlier.
