Rear door glass seal not fitting

Hi all,

I have just bought a brand new rear door and seal from the same site (lrparts.net).

I’ve just gone to fit the seal to the door to test fit and it’s way too long, I tried pushing the seal along to take up the slack but all that’s done is made it bunch up in the corners.

Parts:
LR075816 - rear door
CVW500010 - rear glass glazing seal

Have I been sent the wrong seal or am I putting it on wrong?

Such seals are often supplied over length.

Oh so does it need trimming to length? Will it still remain water tight?

Is that one piece ?
The Bearmach one <BR 1036> is a strip (cut to length).

I guess youd trim it with the joint at the top and add a bit of silicone

Thanks for your reply. Just looked at the join on the seal and it was partly split anyway so decided to pull on it and it came apart without much fuss and now I’ve fit it you can see just how much it is too long by.
Why do they send them oversized? Surely would just make sense to make it fit?
