Rear Diff

I have had my 110,000 miles 2003 Td4 for about a week not. I've done 300 miles so far and it has performed faultless. I have just done a 37 mile journey and thought I would check the temps of the VCU and Diff. I found the VCU was only slightly warm and diff warmer than the VCU.

I'm just wondering if the diff is supposed to get warm. It's not hot to the touch just warm to the touch

Also on full lock I get a slight noise from the rear like a dull low tone

it will on longish journey as it runs in gear oil ,the thicker the oil the hotter diff will run,

If you touch the engine after 300 miles it will be hot also

I belive this is quite normal for a freelander!

But not the gay ones!!:mooning:
