rear diff fill plug

the rear diff fill plug on my 90 pickup is leaking,jetwashed nit off and drove it and its definitly coming from the fill plug,nipped it up a bit but its still leaking,any advice? new plug? ptfe? bit of sealant? anybody had this before and fixed it? thanks in advance phil

take it out, clean it, wire brush it, degrease it, and the inner threads.

Maybe you can use a bit of plumbers tape since it seems to be gaps around the thread?

I put a smear of hylomar round the threads of mine.

Anything to do the breather being blocked? Excess pressure and all!

I always put some ptfe tape on all drain/filler plugs. Replace it everytime and never had one leak yet.
Shame you cant wrap it around the engine, gearbox, transfer box, front axle...................

if not threadlock could work. Obviously not permanent stuff.

sorted! took the plug out,wire brushed it, bit of ptfe tape,job done
