rear diff and electrical

Hi been over to my mums and to see my p38 and underneath on the front of rear axle the round thingy looks like wires or somthing attatced to it what is this for?

upload image online freeI also have a battery drain. To sum up the electronics on mine none of the windows or sun roof work on original switches. Eas is manual. Everything works the remote locking with the fob only works if its held about a foot from the motor.
Could all this be related? Wheres good to start?

its a harmonic damper the wire is to stop the weight dropping of if rubber perishes

remote working close to car sounds like blue arial wire pulled of to stop the reciever wakeing up becm and drain battery, known problem, this is a cheep fixhttp://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f10/rf-reciever-work-round-258096.html a new reciever from dealers is £200+

Ahh okays thanks erm could i totally unplug the reciver and use the key as a key? Dont think im going to get the flex plate started by this year lol

Not a good idea when you can solve the problem for a fiver.

No was to see if i could to save it going dead temporarily back to work working away for 18+ days straight you see

Get a cheap charger from Aldi as unless the battery is tip top and fully charged it may still go flat. You could unplug the RF receiver when not using it.

Yeh was just an idea to do for now till im back again iv just undone battery and left the top tail gate open for now got my acess code and a print out of how to enter it so hopefully that'll keep me out the poop that way. On the plus side the eas compessor is still there. Height sensors and some pipe work. Mabye go back to airbags 1day or not. Want some all terrains see how she dose first

Sounds like it is already unplugged. Should work from further away than that. Locks can still burn out even with receiver unplugged if signal is close: mine did.

All locks work as they should. Il have a look for reciver when am back. Can i ask what's symptoms for burnt locks and how to tell?

Remote no longer locks/unlocks one or more doors, same for key.
