hiya all,

a week ago i changed me rear diff mounts(all three), no dramas or anything like that, but what i was wonderin was, how important is it to re-align the diff after????, the reason im asking is because i found that the diff pretty much centred itself, once it all started to be tightened up, perhaps a little bit of up and down movement on the nose of the diff, but thats it, so what am i not seeing, that landrover is,when they say its best to use the alignment tool ???

Same happened to mine. Tightened up the bolts, then released slightly to allow it to move. It centered itself. So I tightened them and all is ok. I can only assume LR is using best practice engineering, or their worried that a monkey may have a go, and not be so careful as we have been. It may be the case that perfect alignment means less chance of failure of someting like bearings?
