Rear Crossmember

Got bored today and had a proper look under the Disco for any rot I've missed when i bought it!!

Found that the crossmember (under mid row seats) is totally f

ked. Is this a quick fix or will the boot floor need to come out to do it?

Apologies if this has been already covered but search aint working and I got our the last Disco's whole back end done by the garage without really knowing what was what

(1st Disco and all that lol). I just need to know if this repair is gonna kiss my planned motorbike goodbye.

Tell me about it, should've stayed away

but as we're carrying the kids I need to get it sorted for my piece of mind (and hopefully I can keep this Disco for some years to come).

BING, back to the top,

mines rotten, shot, dead, needs replacing, any idea on parts replacement?

i'm pretty sure you can use standared steel box section , i'm not completely sure cos i'v never done one on a disco .. but i know you can buy replacements probly from paddocks and the like ...

and LRD158 is the 2 end peices, you might be better taking it to a little fabrication shop and getting them to build something outta stock - am sure they would have a bit of 4" RSJ laying around

bugger, been lookin for ages, and it seems like it will have to be made up. I had a look on a piccie of the disco chassis that redhand put up when simons got rear ended:

and its the second member down from the back, but i cant find a part no. Looks like he's makin one for me!

oh and i need a sender unit, crap!

hang on, may have confused you, its the one that holds the fuel tank up and is the support for the rear seat belts

it does, yer just shopping in the wrong shop

RSJ , Steel Beams, Girders, Box , Welding frm 1m Length on eBay, also, Other Building Materials, Building Materials Supplies, Business, Office Industrial (end time 13-Aug-08 21:01:02 BST)
