I have a 6mm rear crossmember fitted. (Black sheep offroad). Can I just bolt on a tow hook dirct to it as a recovery point only not for towing stuff?

If its welded on good yeah, put a spreader plate behind where you bolt t on though to stop the bolts ripping through the holes.

Black Sheep do a recovery point, give 'em a ring

Bolts pulling through one of Clive's crossmembers?? I imagine that the bolts would snap before that happens!

I suppose yeah, was thinking about the normal x-member setup. Wouldn't hurt to make it extra beefy though but yeah your right 6mm is hench.

I just bolted a towball and pin (can't remember what they are called) to a pressbrake crossmember, used it many times, even bent someone's standard crossmember right up when recovering him...

Thanks for the replies. I contacted Clive and bought one of his recovery points with bolts to add to the battering ram of a crossmember I got a few months ago.
