Do i nedd the specific oil seal gasket or can i make one with gasket paper? Reason, a suppliers im am going to use sells the seal but not the gasket and id sooner not have to pay silly postage from another supplier just for a gasket.

Ones I've had come as like a kit with a applicator that holds seal together whilst you push it in (you only get one chance) . Did'nt know there was a gasket un all !....................Is there ?

not sure what engine you got but to do rear crank oil seal on my 200tdi, i remove flywheel and housing, you use the applicator tool that comes with the rear crank oil seal to aid fitting it, and there is a paper gasket between flywheel housing and block, worth using it as you dont want to do it all again

I think i got it now John, Ive got a 300tdi and never done one before but now looking again at the seal on the paddock website,is the metal frame that im looking at, the applicator ? If so, that would make sense of the size of it. So you rekon the gasket will come with the seal?
Cheers.
BTW, that supplier you told me about over here seems quite good and cheap delivery so thanks for that. that is the reason for the question, as on there site they have the seal but not the gasket so now i assume it will come with it.
