I've read stuff about the wiring. I understand from an earlier post that all I'm doing is taking a black earth from the rear door switch to my existing light? I was gonna put another light in at the front on the designated bit of the headliner carcass, but it'd be too much as the light already wired has 120 led bulbs and it's of ET's space ship proportions.

I can't find anything about where to locate the switch (top, middle, or middle with the plastic door hinge cover hitting it)??? I then just drill a hole for the switch into the frame. Is this right? Thanks in advance if you can respond.

Mame sure there's a fuse in the circuit for your starship landing light :D, but yep, courtesy lights tend to work as you have described - you can mock it up easily enough - just twist wires together to test your circuit - once you're happy, then make the connections properly;)

Since you can, I'd consider the position of the switch wrt your intended usage - switch can go anywhere the mechanical action can be created / arranged for it to work - I.E. up out of the way of interested hounds ;)

Cheers for that. It's looking like I'm gonna have to buy a striker plate unfortunately. I could just catch the door if I cut some rubber seal out but it's not the best solution. Just this second found this part which'll do the job.

Mine is activated by the piece coving the wires in your photos. I think mine may have been further towards the rear door, but I can’t remember exactly.

You will need to drill 2 holes, one for the switch and one for the earth screw.

Yeah I'm right into internal corner and it's still missing. New seals aren't helping.

My 90 had the light wired as switched positive rather than the door switches- they were a later addition to work the alarm.
I just added a second manual switch in the rear door trim, taking power from the 12v supply to the towbar. It worked nicely as the light only came on when you wanted it to, plus it saved me from walking to the front to turn the light on and off everytime I wanted something out of the back.

Cheers for that. Luckily the previous owner (unless it's part of my type of dash) has a 3 position switch, so I can have it on all the time, have it so it only comes on when the doors are open or have it off altogether. It's the switch far right.
