Hello peeps of the landyworld :)
Well I knew before I got my disco all bout the chassis rotting and was prepared for it, well yesterday me and my son got the landy on a ramp and had a look, the passenger side needed 3 plates but the driver side rear section was....well.... totally bodged.
A previous owner had hammered the rotton area to dent it in, then filled with body filler and then two 1.5mm thick strips of metal over the top pushed into the filler, then underseal over the top of it all. So a magnet or tapping hammer would give the impression it was solid.
No it' ****e so today we will be cutting it all out and welding in 2.5mm plate.
Whoever did the conversion to coils didn't remove the compressor or sensors so we cut the sensor mounting off to fix the hole, which doubled in size as expected.
Big thanks though to Steve who has let us use one of his ramps and his mig and any tools we need, for free, because he is a great mate.
Some pics and more to come.

Looks fun,

Make sure to check behind where the springs and shocks mount, known place that they rot.

Good luck.

Cheers
