Hi

My rear bumper has hd an argument with a mud bank and ripped the plastic end cap off it, so got me thinking if anyone had modified a bumper to look similar to expensive HD bumpers you can buy ? or modified the standard bumper in anyway to remove/replace the end caps ? and if you have any pics of them ?

im not the best but have been using one and practising the last few months and have a spare rear bumper here so if i do go wrong or scrp the hole thing nothing lost really. just thought instead of changing it with another plastic end cap one i would see if anyone has ever modified one.

cheers for the replys all.

as for buying one they are just to much i think, when i have a spare here which hopefully i can fabricate one up to look similar to the HD one for a fraction of the price ? just thought others may have done similar at some point ?

Most of us who have had that same argument with the mud bank you had realized that 1 of 2 hings had to happen, either we went HD or stopped playing in the mud

Easier to go HD in the long run.

Just buy a real HD bumper you tight git. :behindsofa:[/quote]

:mad:love to just go out and buy one but when they are £240ish and that's half of my income.i cant do that, that's why some of us like to make thing
rant over

sorry rob not having a go at you

I get a bit of a kick out of spending as little as possible to keep the disco on the road.
Second hand parts, self fabricated if I can.

Make your own and don't listen to the buy it brigade.

I spent more than a months wages on my front bumper and winch, I didn't starve or renage on the rent either when I bought it, I saved for 6 months(would have been 4 but found other things that needed more urgent attention :(), no one said you had to buy it tomorrow

I 2nd that. Currently making a Tubular bumper for the front of mines. no winch mounts or that but shackle mounts. Making it out scaffold tube.

Whilst do agree with you about keeping it running on the road at a realistic and reasonable price, I do also consider the aesthetics of how my own vehicle looks and how it will perform post home brew mods add ons.

Not saying it can't be done but there has been many a testiment available on ebay that says home brewing of parts etc shouldn't be done at all

Then again, look here from post #226 ;)

That was beautifully crafted :clap2:
